RESILIENCIA II

2020

Ceramics

Barcelona, Spain.

_____________

This project is the continuation of my previous "RESILIENCIA" piece. I wanted to collaborate with the ocean again but with Ceramics instead.

For this work I made the sculpture in ceramics and when it was still raw I exposed it to the waves documenting the intervention of the sea upon it. When I was satisfied with the results, I returned it to my studio to bake it in the kiln.

_____________

This project is the continuation of an investigation about symptoms, healing and resilience that are experienced during the disease process.

This process exceeds the healing of a pathological event because it includes the reintegration back into “normal” life after the enriching and challenging event of being sick.

The task of healing is related to letting flow and appreciate the symptoms of the body, consequences of not listening to oneself and of imposing obstacles that limit the natural movement of the present.

This proposal explored these feelings through land art and sculpture during two facets:

FIRST :

Installation that immerses itself in the sea allowing it to be intervened by nature itself .

I am interested in collaborating with nature because during different periods, the sea has been considered as a source of power with healing results; like thalassotherapy, which is a method of therapy that is based on the use of different marine environments.

SECOND :

the understanding of the piece outside the context in which it “healed” and its reintegration back into the space where it was born, my studio at Casa Tagumerche. Leaded in an intervention to remark nature's participation.

metallic wire

_____________

Inspired by the japanese philosophy of highlighting the cracks instead of hiding them. Celebrating our past and our scars. The events, encounters and the impermanence of things. Seeking to let nature exist without too much interference, looking for the simple and spontaneous. This piece was very overwhelming. The ancestral land from this island , that seems to be frozen in time and space, had already painted patterns and colors. I just played with her, a dialogue of understanding and sharing secrets. From grandma to a little child.

On this island, I've been touching the earth. putting my hand in cracks, scraping stones and filling my knees with dust. I've been following her veins, tracing over them the ones that connect with me, the ones that guide me. exalting its flow and movement.

_____________

First tests and explorations. Working with sand, salt and sea. Conversing with the waves. Dialogues of life, flow, tracks, limits, cycles.

let life flow within you, let it soak you and take away what does not belong to you. Learn to flow and let yourself be erased and redraw your destiny.

_____________

Golden veins on the earth. My feet do not know where to step because I do not want to interrupt the flow of natural lines that frame small mirrors of sun. Earth lines in communion with human lines. Together understanding the traces of the sublime. Together knowing each other and exploring our beauty.
